Guwahati, Assam: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswas Sharma blamed the erstwhile Congress Party government for the Manipur communal violence happening currently. Himanta Biswas made the statement in a public conference in Guwahati, Assam. The Chief Minister said, “Because of the wrong policy adopted by the Congress Party during the formative years, today Northeastern states are not able to resolve various disputes”. Himanta Biswas criticized the UPA government’s policies that were made during their ruling time before 2014 which led to communal violence in Manipur.

“The Congress Government only played politics in the Northeast State and has not done anything to address the root cause behind the problem in the region” CM Himanta Sharma mentioned in the statement. Himanta Sharma directly stated that Congress Government’s ‘wrong policies’ and ‘playing politics’ is the major cause causing disputes in the Northeast State. Congress Government did nothing to resolve the problem of Northeastern communities.
Compared to his own party’s commitment to resolving the Manipur violence, Himanta Sharma emphasized the Bhartiya Janata Party’s commitment to resolving the Manipur Communal Violence. As the Chief Minister said, “The BJP government is committed to resolving all the disputes in the Northeast and bringing peace and stability to the region”.
In the statement of Himanta Sharma, the Chief Minister tried to squarely blame the erstwhile Congress Party government for the continuous communal violence in Manipur. Assam CM Himanta Sharma’s comments highlight the irresponsible policies made by the Congress government which caused communal disputes in the Northeast state. The Chief Minister also signified the various steps and commitments taken by the BJP Government to resolve the Manipur communal violence.
