The programme was conducted under the valuable guidance and mentorship of Dr. Sasha Kanwar, whose extensive academic experience and commitment to legal education inspired the team throughout the planning and execution of the event. The participants and organizers greatly benefited from the insights and encouragement provided by Dr. Sasha Kanwar, which helped ensure that the programme achieved both educational and social impact.
Known for their active participation in debating, public speaking, legal awareness campaigns, and article writing, Yash Dixit, Shubham Rana, and Shivam Chandel have consistently contributed to social welfare initiatives through Vidhi Anudan. Their leadership and commitment, combined with the guidance of Dr. Sasha Kanwar, played a key role in making the event educational, interactive, and impactful.
The programme began with a Signature Campaign, where children, staff members, and volunteers pledged to stay away from tobacco and encourage others to do the same. Addressing the gathering, Shubham Rana emphasized the importance of making informed choices and highlighted the severe health consequences associated with tobacco addiction.
An informative Awareness and Practice Exhibition was organized to educate participants about the physical, mental, social, and economic effects of tobacco use. Through posters, charts, and educational displays, children learned about the dangers of smoking, passive smoking, and nicotine addiction. Yash Dixit guided participants through the exhibition and explained how awareness is the first step towards prevention.
To encourage creativity and participation, several competitions were conducted, including poster-making, slogan-writing, and awareness-based activities. These competitions provided a platform for children to express their ideas on healthy living and the importance of staying tobacco-free. Shivam Chandel motivated participants to think creatively and use their voices to spread awareness within society.
One of the most engaging parts of the event was the Open Discussion Session, where children freely shared their views and asked questions regarding tobacco use, peer pressure, and healthy lifestyle choices. Drawing upon their experience in debating and public speaking, Yash Dixit, Shubham Rana, and Shivam Chandel facilitated the discussion and encouraged meaningful interaction among the participants.
The programme also featured an Interactive Counselling Session in collaboration with the Free Legal Aid Clinic. During the session, participants were informed about legal rights, tobacco control laws, and the importance of public health awareness. Shubham Rana explained the legal framework related to tobacco regulation, while Yash Dixit and Shivam Chandel actively engaged with participants, answering questions and offering guidance.
Speaking on the occasion, Shubham Rana highlighted the role of legal awareness in addressing social challenges, while Yash Dixit stressed the importance of youth-led initiatives in promoting public health. Shivam Chandel emphasized that awareness, education, and community participation are essential for creating a healthier and more responsible society.
The efforts of Yash Dixit, Shubham Rana, and Shivam Chandel, all students of the Department of Laws, Himachal Pradesh University, were widely appreciated by the orphanage administration, volunteers, and participants. Special appreciation was also extended to Dr. Sasha Kanwar, whose guidance, encouragement, and professional expertise significantly contributed to the successful organization of the programme and inspired the students to undertake meaningful community outreach initiatives.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks and a collective pledge by all attendees to spread awareness about the dangers of tobacco and work towards a tobacco-free future. Through such initiatives, Vidhi Anudan continues to strengthen its mission of promoting legal literacy, public health awareness, and social responsibility.
